Serves as researcher on projects based at the Division of Research (DOR). Works under the supervision of a DOR Research Scientist II or III.
Essential Functions:
Designs, develops, & directs well-defined research w/ minimal supervision from the DOR Research Scientist II or III
Prepares grant proposals, internal reports & publications independently & collaboratively
Provides consultation & directs study design, analysis plans & interpretation of study results to TPMG, KFH/P managers & committees as discussed w/ DOR Research Scientist
May consult w/ local, state, & national voluntary & governmental agencies, or w/ scientists at other institutions
Provides consultation & direction to programmer analysts w/ regard to data management & analysis strategies
Presents papers at national scientific meetings; teaches &/or reviews papers for national journals
Seeks consultation from senior scientists for specific scientific & administrative issues
Basic Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Dr.PH, MD, Sc.D) in epidemiology, health services research, economics or related field or equivalent training & mastery
Highly competent in the statistical techniques, study designs & general research methods commonly used in epidemiological & health services research
Able to lead a research team, w/ mentoring from DOR Research Scientist II or III & to directly supervise designated team members such as data analysts or research associates or project managers
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Preferred Qualifications:
It is expected that this individual will perform research work on helath disparities; therefore, a background demonstrating interest and experience in the examination of health disparities is highly desirable.
This position is expected to continue for 2 years work or pending continuation of grant/contract funding.
