Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • BLS
  • Medical Record Technicians shall possess at least two years experience performing Medical Record Technician duties in a MTF or hospital setting.

.  MEDICAL RECORD TECHNICIANS shall process and maintain inpatient, outpatient or ambulatory procedure unit medical records in accordance with policy and directives. 
 
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, such as computers, typewriters, copiers, fax machines and telephone systems.
  • Must have general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, excellent communications and customer service skills and understand basic medical terminology.
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day workflow within the unit.  Consult with the NCOIC to establish daily requirements for completion.
  • Coordinate with FRED in planning workflow and duty schedules for assigned section. 
  • Maintain requests as required by regulatory agencies.  Prepare/review reports.
  • File records by sponsor’s social security number according to the terminal digit, color-coded and blocked filing system. 
  • Files military forms documenting patient care into patient medical records. 
  • Requests medical information pertaining to request/treatment from other facilities.
  • Searches for missing paperwork or records. 
  • Reviews records to ensure proper and complete documentation.
  • Retires medical records in accordance with Air Force guidelines.
  • Initiates and maintains medical records in accordance with prescribed directives. 
  • English language, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to prepare and edit written corresponsdence, reports and transcribed material.
