My client is a leader in the Custom Orthotics and Prosthetics world. They are essentially a leading medical device fabricator / healthcare treatment company, who make and fit custom prosthetics for individuals, who have lost a limb due to an accident or disease. They have several research centers and treatment clinics all over the U.S. Their Houston, TX clinic is a relatively new operation, maybe 5 years old, but it is firmly established in the Southern Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana area. Due to its natural growth and maturation, the clinic has reached a point where they need an in-house FABRICATOR / TECHNICIAN. Excellent career opportunity for a hands-on technical person to apply their fabrication skills towards the betterment of individuals in need.
Must be good with your hands. Able to build or fabricate small scale items utilizing a variety of materials like plastics, light weight metals, composites, even fiber glass.
Must know what you are doing with the tools and/or machinery utilized in fabrication / product finishing.
Must be able to meet with patients. An outgoing / customer oriented personality is a must. If you are the kind of person, who'd rather just work in a fab shop, and never interact with customers, then this is NOT the job for you. It sounds like a
, but must have a good bedside manner.
Formal training in various forms of fabrication and/or the tools and machinery utilized in fabrication is strongly desired.
Hands-on experience working with molds and/or castings is strongly desired.
Prior experience and/or training in the fabrication of custom orthotics and prosthetics would be a huge plus, not required.
